Hindustan Zinc Q2 Results: Net profit skyrockets 142% YoY to Rs 6,412 crore, revenue soars 77%ETMarkets.com

Hindustan Zinc's Q2 FY27 net profit jumped 142% to Rs 6,412 crore as revenue rose 76.5%, EBITDA doubled and margins expanded to 62%/AI Image

The metal major’s revenue from operations shot up more than 76.5% YoY to Rs 15,093 crore during the July-September quarter of FY27, from Rs 8,549 crore reported in the year-ago period. This was driven by higher metal prices, increased metal production, higher by-product realisation, and a stronger dollar. Total expenses grew nearly 31.5% YoY to Rs 6,895 crore during the quarter under review.

Hindustan Zinc’s EBITDA more than doubled, surging around 108% YoY to Rs 9,285 crore, while the EBITDA margin improved to 62% from 52% in the year-ago period. This came as the company’s net silver sales surged 141% YoY to Rs 4,111 crore while zinc sales jumped 54% YoY to Rs 8,224 crore. Lead and other metal sales jumped 35% and 151% YoY, respectively.

Zinc Cost of Production (COP) excluding royalty stood at $703 per tonne during the quarter, better by 29% YoY on account of better mined grades, increased metal production, better renewable power consumption and higher by-product realisations, partly offset by lower domestic coal usage and increased input commodities prices in line with the ongoing geopolitical crisis globally, the company said.

What Hindustan Zinc management said

Speaking about the company’s performance during the second quarter, Hindustan Zinc CEO Amarendu Prakash said the company’s record quarterly mined metal production of 271 KT and refined metal production of 264 KT demonstrates the strength of our operations, assets and people. “We remain focused on disciplined growth, AI-led innovation, and advancing our critical minerals portfolio to support India’s energy transition while delivering long-term stakeholder value,” he said.

Hindustan Zinc CFO Amit Gupta noted that the company’s industry-leading EBITDA margin of 62%, strong cash generation, and robust balance sheet underscore its focus on financial discipline and productivity. “We remain committed to investing in growth, maintaining financial resilience, and creating long-term shareholder value,” he added.
