India's infrastructure output grew 7.9% year-on-year in September, government data showed on Wednesday. This was faster than the revised growth of 5.9% recorded in August.
The growth was also higher than the 3.1% increase seen in September last year. Higher output of coal, refinery products, steel and iron ore helped drive the growth, according to the data.
The index tracks activity across nine sectors and accounts for about a third of India's industrial production (IIP).
