Indian shares opened little changed on Thursday after the US Federal Reserve held interest rates steady, as expected, while elevated oil prices kept investors cautious.
The benchmark Nifty 50 slipped 0.04% to 22,690.65, while the Sensex rose 0.03% to 73,268.47, as of 09:15 am. Ten of the 16 major sectors rose. The broader small-caps and mid-caps rose 0.2% each.
The Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged on Wednesday, opting to delay any changes to borrowing costs until after next week's US midterm elections while it awaits further data on inflation, which it said “remains elevated”.
