Jupiter Wagons shares rally 8% on Rs 1,140 crore Railway Board order<br>ETMarkets.com

According to an exchange filing, the order from the Railway Board, valued inclusive of taxes, reflects the company’s continued participation in Indian Railways’ wagon procurement programme.

Alongside its Indian Railways business, Jupiter Wagons said its private-sector order book remains strong, supported by demand from private freight operators, wagon leasing companies and core-sector customers. The company expects incremental order inflows of around Rs 2,000 crore in Q4 FY27.

The near-term demand outlook for the sector has also received support from the Ministry of Railways’ recently issued tender for the procurement of 5,800 BOBRN wagons.

Commenting on the order, Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons, said the award reflects Indian Railways’ continued confidence in the company’s execution capabilities. He highlighted its backward integration across the wagon value chain, including castings, bogies, couplers and brake systems, along with plans to extend this integration to wheelsets through its Odisha facility.

Lohia added that the company’s integrated manufacturing capabilities help strengthen cost control, product quality and delivery timelines. He reiterated the company’s expectation of securing around Rs 2,000 crore in additional orders in Q4 FY27, supported by demand from both government and private-sector customers.

Share price, valuation and technical indicators

Despite Thursday’s rally, Jupiter Wagons shares have declined around 25% over the past three months. The company currently has a market capitalisation of Rs 7,846 crore, while its 52-week high stands at Rs 358.25.

On the valuation front, the stock has a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 45.31 and a price-to-book (P/B) ratio of 2.53.

According to Trendlyne’s technical data, Jupiter Wagons is trading below seven of its eight simple moving averages (SMAs), indicating weakness across most of these technical indicators.
