India's strong macroeconomic fundamentals, with GDP growth expected to remain above 7%, will support equity markets in Samvat 2086, said Kamlesh Shroff, National President of the Association of NSE Members of India (ANMI). He identified lower crude oil prices as a key positive for domestic markets, noting that they could strengthen the rupee and encourage foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to return to Indian equities.

Shroff also expects greater clarity following the US elections to ease geopolitical tensions, improve business confidence and reduce market volatility. He noted that domestic institutional investors (DIIs), mutual funds and retail investors have supported Indian equities over the past two years despite sustained foreign selling. A return of foreign investors alongside continued domestic buying could provide further support to the markets, he said.

Dalal Street begins Samvat 2086 on a positive note, with investors trading in the special Muhurat session amid optimism over strong Q2 earnings, healthy October auto sales and firm GST collections. According to the expert, the recent rally also gained momentum after the US midterm election verdict revived hopes of easing tensions in Iran and a softer stance on tariffs. Crude prices slipped below $100 a barrel, the dollar and US Treasury yields eased, and foreign investors returned as buyers.

Looking ahead, the expert said the rally's sustainability will depend on broader market participation and whether hopes of de-escalation in West Asia translate into concrete progress. While the near-term outlook remains constructive, he cautioned that intermittent profit booking cannot be ruled out after the sharp gains. He advised investors to remain selective, favour large-cap stocks with strong earnings visibility and follow a buy-on-dips strategy.

On the flip side, SBI Life took the biggest hit among the losers, dropping 0.84% (down ₹14.90) to ₹1,769.10 with ₹4.87 crore in total traded value. IndiGo was also under pressure, sliding 0.68% (down ₹37.30) to land at ₹5,438.70. ONGC rounded out the top gainers list, adding 0.85% to reach ₹233.74 with a total traded value of ₹44.28 crore.

Public sector banks, pharmaceutical companies and defence stocks could emerge as the dark horses of Samvat 2083, according to Dhiraj Relli, MD & CEO of HDFC Securities, who sees stronger earnings visibility in these pockets despite elevated market volatility.

The Nifty closed Friday at 25,030.35, positioning it above key support levels ahead of the Muhurat trading session. According to Sudeep Shah, Vice President and Head of Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, the earlier resistance zone of 24,750–24,800 is expected to act as a crucial support base. As long as the index holds above 24,750, the short-term bullish outlook remains intact, paving the way for another potential leg higher following a brief phase of consolidation.

For investors entering Samvat 2083, the recent market correction has opened up attractive opportunities in fundamentally sound companies. However, given the swift pace of the latest recovery, market experts emphasize the need for disciplined entry levels and strict risk management to navigate potential volatility effectively.

MCX will conduct its special Muhurat Trading session from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm, with a pre-open session scheduled from 2:05 pm to 2:19 pm. Contracts across all commodities and indices will be available for trading.

BSE and NSE will conduct the special Muhurat Trading session on November 8 from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm. The pre-open session will begin at 2:05 pm, followed by order matching and confirmation before regular trading starts.

Indian stock markets will open for a special one-hour Muhurat trading session later today, Sunday, to usher in Samvat 2083 and celebrate Diwali. Timed alongside Lakshmi Puja, this traditional session will give investors their first chance to place symbolic trades for the new Hindu financial year, a ritual usually marked by a relaxed atmosphere and lighter trading volumes.

A select group of 8 BSE 500 stocks delivered exceptional returns since Diwali 2025, more than doubling investors' wealth with gains of up to 191%, even as the Nifty 50 declined nearly 3%. According to ACE Equities data, 190 stocks from the index posted positive returns during the period, but only eight managed to clock gains exceeding 100%.

The recent stock market rebound has strengthened the near-term technical outlook, though analysts caution that the rapid pace of the recovery could trigger profit-taking. Earnings data from ICICI Securities shows strong fundamentals, with Q2 revenue and net profit growing over 20% year-on-year, while mid-cap and small-cap earnings expanded past 30%.

Despite this broad-based earnings growth, the rally has so far been driven primarily by large-cap stocks, index heavyweights, and banking majors. Market participants are now watching closely to see if buying interest expands into smaller-cap counters over the coming weeks.

Indian stock exchanges are hosting the traditional one-hour Muhurat trading session today from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm to mark the start of Samvat 2083. Top brokerages have highlighted key technical stock recommendations for investors making symbolic purchases during this auspicious window. HDFC Securities favors BPCL, HCL Technologies, IIFL Finance, JSW Steel, Satin Creditcare, and Zensar Technologies, projecting potential upsides of up to 28%. Meanwhile, Axis Securities recommends picks including Aurobindo Pharma, HAL, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Tech Mahindra, seeing an upside potential of up to 49%.

Indian equities are entering Samvat 2083 on a high note after posting an impressive weekly surge of over 8% across a seven-session winning streak, driven by softening crude oil prices, robust foreign inflows, improving Q2 corporate earnings, and a strengthening rupee. This strong momentum offers a welcome reprieve from the losses of Samvat 2082, during which the Nifty fell nearly 11% and the Sensex shed 11.8% under global geopolitical and foreign outflow pressures. Ahead of the special one-hour Diwali Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 8, market analysts see bright spots in banking, auto, pharma, and select large-cap stocks, though they advise investors to stay selective rather than buy aggressively.

Kotak Mutual Fund pointed out that large and mid-cap stocks currently offer relative valuation comfort, trading at a discount to their long-term average valuations as of October 31, 2026. To capture diversified equity exposure, the fund house recommended schemes such as Kotak Focused Fund, Kotak Multi Asset Allocation Fund, and Kotak Multi Cap Fund. For investors seeking thematic plays, it highlighted the Kotak Manufacture in India Fund and Kotak Banking and Financial Services Fund, while recommending Kotak Equity Savings Fund for more conservative investors. Cautioning against expecting outsized gains, the AMC urged investors to align their portfolio choices with individual risk profiles.

Indian equities are expected to deliver moderate returns during Samvat 2083, with Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund advising investors to focus on quality stocks and asset allocation over short-term market momentum. In its latest Muhurat investment outlook, the fund house highlighted that maintaining a disciplined long-term strategy will be key to navigating volatility driven by geopolitical tensions, crude oil price fluctuations, and hawkish global central bank policies. Despite these macro challenges, domestic demand remains strong, supporting a projected GDP growth of 7.1% for FY27 alongside broad-based economic recovery.

All trades executed during the Diwali Muhurat trading session will follow standard settlement obligations. In a recent circular, the NSE clarified that T+1 transactions can be modified or cancelled until 5 pm on the settlement day.

Banking and financial services stocks led Friday's rally, with both sectoral indices rising more than 2%. Consumer durables and pharmaceutical stocks also recorded gains. Among broader market indices, the Nifty 100 emerged as the top performer, advancing more than 1%, although the broader market performance remained mixed. Investors enter Samvat 2083 after the sharp gains, with global developments and shifts in investor sentiment likely to remain important factors influencing the near-term direction of domestic equities.

The special trading session follows a strong rally in domestic equities on Friday, when benchmark indices extended their winning streak to seven consecutive trading sessions despite weakness across major global markets and technology stocks. The BSE Sensex surged 1,718.01 points, or 2.17%, to close at 81,028.02, reclaiming the 80,000 mark. The NSE Nifty advanced 493.75 points, or 2.01%, to settle at 25,030.35, moving back above the 25,000 level.

The Multi Commodity Exchange has announced a separate schedule for the Diwali Muhurat trading session. Contracts across all commodities and indices will be available for trading. The exchange's special session will run from 2:05 pm to 2:19 pm, followed by the main trading session between 2:20 pm and 3:30 pm. MCX has also said that the client code modification window will remain open until 3:45 pm, allowing participants to make the required modifications.

NSE and BSE have scheduled continuous equity trading from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm. The block deal window will operate from 1:50 pm to 2:05 pm, followed by the pre-open session between 2:05 pm and 2:17 pm. The pre-open process will include order entry, matching and trade confirmation. Both exchanges have also outlined closing auction and post-closing procedures. BSE has additionally set a trade modification window from 2:20 pm to 4:15 pm.

Indian stock and commodity markets hold a special Muhurat trading session on Sunday, November 8, to mark the beginning of Samvat 2083. The annual session is being conducted on the occasion of Diwali, with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) announcing separate schedules for equity and commodity trading. Investors will participate in the symbolic trading session as the new Hindu accounting year begins.
