Revenue from operations on a consolidated basis rose 21.9% YoY to Rs 5,873.14 crore in Q2FY27, against Rs 4,817.60 crore in the year-ago period.

Total expenses increased 20.4% YoY to Rs 5,259.13 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 4,367.15 crore in the corresponding period last year.

On a standalone basis, Trent reported an 8.6% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net profit to Rs 490 crore, compared with Rs 451 crore in the corresponding period last year. Revenue rose 22.5% YoY to Rs 5,788 crore from Rs 4,724 crore a year ago.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 29.6% YoY to Rs 1,054 crore, against Rs 813 crore in the year-ago period. EBITDA margin expanded to 18.2% from 17% in the corresponding period last year.

The company said its operating EBIT margin improved to 11.6% in Q2FY27, compared with 10.5% in the corresponding quarter last year, while its fashion retail footprint continued to expand across markets.

The company opened its 1,000th Zudio store during the quarter, strengthening its presence in the value-fashion segment. As of September 30, 2026, Trent operated 311 Westside stores, 999 Zudio stores, including seven in the UAE, and 32 stores across other lifestyle concepts.

During Q2FY27, the company opened 10 Westside stores and 19 Zudio stores, while consolidating two Zudio stores. Its fashion brands now have a footprint of more than 18.5 million square feet, with a presence across 339 cities, including three cities in the UAE.

Emerging categories

Trent said emerging categories, including beauty and personal care, innerwear and footwear, contributed more than 21% of its revenue.

Its Westside online business, along with its presence on the Tata Neu platform, continued to gain traction and grow profitably. Online revenue grew 20% in the first half of FY27 (H1FY27), contributing more than 6% of Westside's revenue.

The company said the gross margin profile of both Westside and Zudio remained stable. It added that its approach to merchandise sourcing, pricing architecture, distribution and inventory provisioning makes full-year results more representative of underlying business performance.

Asset-sale gains affect year-on-year comparison

Trent said other income in the previous financial year included pre-tax profits from asset sales of Rs 96 crore in Q2FY26 and Rs 109 crore in H1FY26.

The corresponding profits from asset sales in Q2FY27 and H1FY27 were not material. The company noted that these gains were non-operating items but were reflected in the profit after tax (PAT) figures for Q2FY26 and H1FY26.

Management commentary

Speaking on the company's performance, Noel N Tata, Chairman of Trent, said its brands recorded solid traction during the quarter, with consumer sentiment proving more robust despite the relatively inflationary environment.

He said the company was expanding its presence across diverse markets, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations, adding that the reception in these markets had strengthened its conviction to expand further into smaller cities and hinterland markets.

On the Star grocery business, Tata said the contribution of the company's own brands and products was trending above 74% of revenue. He added that Star's recent performance reinforced the company's confidence in the business model and its growth potential. "Trent would continue investing in expanding its footprint, building scale and strengthening its position across markets. He described the food and grocery opportunity as significant and said Star's model was differentiated.'

Reflecting on his tenure as chairman, Tata said he was pleased with Trent's transformation from a relatively small entrant in the fashion sector into one of its leading players, supported by growth, profitability and capital efficiency.

He added that he expected the company to strengthen its position across lifestyle segments, establish a significant presence in food and grocery, and emerge as a meaningful exporter of Indian brands to international markets.

Trent share price

Ahead of the results announcement, Trent shares settled at Rs 2,861.70 on the NSE, down 1.79% from the previous close of Rs 2,913.90.

The stock traded in a range of Rs 2,905 to Rs 2,828.70 during the session. At the closing price, Trent had a market capitalisation of approximately Rs 1,52,595 crore on the NSE.
