The Supreme Court has upheld the decision to set aside Yes Bank’s 2020 write-down of ₹8,415 crore in AT1 bonds. Why did the Court rule that the write-down was unlawful, even though these bonds are designed to absorb losses when a bank is in trouble? Anirban Chowdhury speaks to Sugata Ghosh.
